Here are live recordings from various gigs
Ron Steta and Edgar Gabriel have combined their great experience as stage and studio musicians to create one of Chicago's premier musical duos. Both have had incredible careers: Ron has toured and recorded with popular artists such as the Turtles, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Gary Pucket, The Monkees, Herman’s Hermits The Byrds, Mark Lindsay, the Village People, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Platters, Union Gap and more. Edgar performed violin with Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere in Las Vegas and was a touring member with Dralion. His violin can be heard on many albums including those of Cheap Trick and the Plain White T’s. Edgar has performed in concert with many great artists such as Ray Charles, the Moody Blues, Dennis DeYoung, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Burt Bacharach and many more.
The String Shredders released their first album “Change the World” in 2019. During the Covid-19 shutdown in 2020 the Shredders created dozens of socially distant videos and their version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” went viral. The Shredders were virtually featured on WGN TV morning news in 2020.
Beginning in the spring of 2021 Ron and Edgar have teamed up with the very talented Arla Vox on vocals. Together they have performed many hours of great live music for festivals, concerts and private and public media events.
Ron Steta and Edgar Gabriel present wonderful new instrumental guitar and violin versions of classic rock, folk, pop and even classical classics. The String Shredders: Ron Steta guitars/ harp and Edgar Gabriel violins/ viola have created an album of familiar classic rock tunes interspersed with a current popular song, some fiddling and even classical music.
You will hear such classics as “Hotel California”, Metallica’s "Nothing Else Matters" Kansas "Dust in the Wind", "Wish You Wee Here" by Pink Floyd and more. While these are instrumental arrangements, one may find themselves hearing or singing the words along with the music. In addition to rock songs, the duo has fun with a short but mean version of the fiddle classic the Orange Blossom Special. The title of the Album "Change the World" stems from the 4th track of the CD, Alvin Lee's "I'd Love to Change the World". This album is a lot of fun!
Ron and Edgar and vocalist Arla are perfect for any party, wedding and corporate event. Contact us to have the String Shredders at your next party.
Here is a list of popular songs from the 1960's to the present that we derive our setlists from. We are professionals and can play much more; such as most jazz standards and the American Songbook. Plus we are currently writing and recording originals!
