Composer

Edgar Gabriel began to compose music at an early age. A consummate improviser on the violin, Edgar writes down and arranges ideas that are worthwhile (and some not so worthwhile).
Especially adept at writing and arranging music for strings, Edgar constantly explores new ways to present music in new and exciting ways.

During the years 1991-1998 while Edgar Gabriel was a founding member of the 3rd Coast String Quartet, he arranged and composed many original works for string quartet. Currently, many of these pieces are now performed regularly throughout the world by string students as part his String Groove ® publications. Many of Edgar's original songs can also be heard around the globe with his highly innovative jazz ensemble StringFusion.

Most recently, violinist Rachel Barton Pine premiered Edgar’s “Theme and Variations for Solo Rock Violin,” which was written especially for her. Edgar also writes and arranges music television and other media. Mr. Gabriel holds an undergraduate degree in music from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Music in Jazz Composition from DePaul University. He is a member of American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
